17-year-old girl murdered after brief love affair over talking to someone else
Dhangadhi, 02 Aug: Yachana Sejuwal, a 17-year-old girl from Bardagoriya Rural Municipality-3 in Dhangadhi, had started working at the Rajdhani Sekuwa and Momo Center in Bauniya Bazaar just 15 days ago. She worked there as a waitress.
At the same restaurant, 33-year-old Niraj Saud from Bardagoriya-1 was employed as a cook. During their time working together, the two grew close. Niraj, a father of two, was already divorced. According to police, he developed a romantic relationship with Sejuwal during their work at the center, reportedly influenced by his separation from his wife.
The relationship quickly turned romantic within a short period, with Saud expressing his intention to marry Sejuwal and spend the rest of his life with her. Over time, Sejuwal began assisting Saud in the kitchen, taking on more responsibilities beyond her role as a waitress.
Just 15 days after meeting, Yachana Sejuwal and Niraj Saud had entered into a romantic relationship. On Saturday, like on previous days, the two were working together in the kitchen of Rajdhani Sekuwa and Momo Center. During their shift, an argument broke out between them.
According to police, only the two of them were inside the kitchen at the time. In the heat of the moment, Saud grabbed a nearby knife and attacked Sejuwal, slashing her throat. District Police Office spokesperson, DSP Rajkumar Singh, said that preliminary investigations indicate Saud stabbed Sejuwal during the dispute.
She collapsed in the kitchen from the deep wound. It was only then that the restaurant owner, stationed at the counter, realized something had gone wrong.
“They were in a romantic relationship since meeting at the sekuwa center. On Saturday morning, they seem to have had an argument in the kitchen,” DSP Singh stated. “During the dispute, Saud stabbed Sejuwal with a knife. The incident came to light only after she collapsed. Although she was rushed to Nisarga Hospital in Dhangadhi, she could not be saved.”
Sejuwal was declared dead at the hospital. The accused, Niraj Saud, was immediately arrested by the police.
Now in custody at the Sukhad Area Police Office, Saud claimed that he and Sejuwal had agreed to get married. He admitted to stabbing her out of anger after learning she had been talking with other men over the phone and video calls.
“She had promised to love and marry me, but continued talking to other guys on calls. When I questioned her, we argued,” Saud told police. “In a moment of rage, I couldn’t control myself and grabbed a nearby knife. I now deeply regret what I’ve done.”
Sejuwal’s body has been kept at Seti Provincial Hospital for postmortem. Saud remains in police custody as the investigation continues.
