Kathmandu-Guangzhou Direct Flight

Kathmandu, 21 Sep: National flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation (Nepal Airlines) will commence direct flights to Guangzhou, China starting from Ashoj 9 (September 25). This is the first time the corporation is launching Kathmandu-Guangzhou-Kathmandu flight services.

According to the corporation’s Executive Chairman Yuba Raj Adhikari, all technical preparations for this purpose have been completed. The corporation has already received permission for the Guangzhou flights. The corporation has scheduled three regular flights per week. The first flight will be on Ashoj 9 (September 25), the second on Ashoj 12 (September 28), followed by flights on Ashoj 30 (October 16), Kattik 2 (October 19), and Kattik 6 (October 23). Thereafter, direct flights to Guangzhou will operate every Sunday, Tuesday, and Saturday. The corporation has announced a one-way fare of NPR 30,000 and a round-trip ticket of NPR 50,000 for the Kathmandu-Guangzhou route.

Chairman Adhikari stated that after long efforts, they have successfully expanded flight services to this important city in China. The corporation has informed that it is preparing to launch direct flights from Kathmandu to South Korea and Australia in the near future.

Currently, China’s airline China Southern operates regular flights on the Kathmandu-Guangzhou route. From Nepal, Himalaya Airlines has been operating regular flights on this route. It is estimated that the Guangzhou flight, which has a high density of Nepali passengers, could be financially beneficial for the corporation.

Flights to 11 Destinations in Nine Countries

With the addition of the Guangzhou flight, Nepal’s national flag carrier will now operate regular flights to 11 destinations in nine countries. Currently, Nepal Airlines Corporation operates international flights to Doha (Qatar), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Dubai (UAE), Hong Kong, Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore (India), Bangkok (Thailand), Dammam (Saudi Arabia), and Narita (Japan) using its two narrow-body and two wide-body aircraft.

The corporation believes that its international flights, which are tied to the nation’s pride and identity, have historically played a crucial role in expanding diplomatic relations and bringing in more foreign tourists, and this will continue in the days to come.
