Belbari, Morang, 24 March: The Belbari International Drama Festival has begun in Belbari, Morang. Artists from Nepal, India and Japan will participate in the festival, which began on Sunday at Tamu Buddhist Monastery in Belbari Municipality Ward No. 1. On the first day of the three-day festival, which will be held from Chaitra 10 to 12, artists from Manipur, India, have presented a play based on the cry of the indigenous people.
On Monday, artists from Mandala Theater will present the play 'Ashtangika Jhanam'. Similarly, a Japanese play titled 'Kandata and Shakuntala' will be performed on the third day. The play, which will be jointly performed by artists from Japan and Nepal, will showcase various aspects of Nepali and Japanese culture.
Inaugurating the festival, Koshi Province MP Gyanendra Subedi said that drama can show a new path to society. He also said that before the development of modern cinema, drama was a major form of entertainment. In the program chaired by Rekha Subedi, the chairperson of Belbari Pragya Pratishthan, Mandala Theater owner Somnath Khanal and others shared their views on the importance of drama in the current situation. The program also featured a performance of Geethanatak School, written by Nawaraj Parajuli, while the play, performed by seven artists from Belbari Multiple Campus, was jointly directed by Bikash Budhathoki and Jeevan Baral. Kul Prasad Baral, secretary of the organizing organization Belbari Pragya Pratishthan, said that every day, artists, creators, and the general public flock to watch the play.
