Kathmandu, 22 Oct: In a heartening display of community solidarity and philanthropic spirit, the ‘Independent Volunteer Campaign’ orchestrated a significant scholarship and educational material distribution event for 15 orphaned and underprivileged students on Tuesday. The ceremony, held on the 3rd of Kartik, 2082 (November 19, 2025), took place at the Ward Office of Panauti Municipality-7 in the Kavre district, symbolizing a collaborative effort between social volunteers and local government.
The program was graced by the presence of Ward Chairman Mr. Sabin Tamrakar, who presided over the function and emphasized the critical role of education in breaking the cycle of poverty. The initiative specifically targeted children from some of the most vulnerable segments of society, including orphans, the economically disadvantaged, and those from marginalized communities, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder their academic aspirations.
Beyond a simple monetary grant, the campaign provided a comprehensive “Educational Support Kit” designed to address both scholastic and essential daily needs of the students. Each beneficiary received a carefully assembled package containing two dozen notebooks, a packet of pencils for their academic work, and a water bottle for school. Recognizing the importance of overall well-being, the kit also included vital personal hygiene items like a toothbrush and toothpaste, as well as clothing essentials such as a warm cap, a pair of socks, and a t-shirt to provide comfort and dignity.

The 15 students who were awarded this scholarship and support package are: Kasan Tamang, Ram Tamang, Suwas Lopchan, Puja Lopchan, Stuti Sherpa, Karan Bik, Arun Bik, Aakriti Tamang, Sudeep Tamang, Erina Moktan, Manisha Pariyar, Nirajan Bholan, Raksha Bhujel, Sijar Nepali, and Ayush Dhulu.
The event was organized by the ‘Independent Volunteer Campaign,’ a group dedicated to spearheading social welfare and educational empowerment initiatives at the grassroots level. The campaign’s efforts were amplified by a consortium of digital media partners, including Global Online Television, KTM Nagarik Aawaz, Nepal Explores, Samasti Nepal, Suchana Chautari, and Thangmi Chagu, which helped bring visibility to the cause.
