Kanchanpur, Ashoj 18(Oct 4): Relief funds have been provided to the family of 59-year-old Ramdal Rana, who died in an elephant attack in Lalzhadi rural municipality-4 Dandazai. Community Forest Coordinating Committee (CFCC) Kanchanpur Chairman Mahesh Dutt Joshi informed that Rs 25,000 has been handed over to Chandrawati Rana, wife of the deceased, as relief.
He said that the relief money was provided from the fund created by the conservation workers affiliated to the coordination committee, and others were also being given cash support from that fund.
While handing over the relief money, Chairman Joshi said that Masida elephants in Lalzhadi Jaibik road are causing human losses every year. According to him, so far 12 people have lost their lives in elephant attacks. Ward President Bahadur Singh Rana said that since the year 2064, elephants have been causing damage to the grain crops of local farmers along with human and physical damage every year. He said that the village council will provide all possible support to the families who died in the attack of elephants.
Karunakar Joshi, head of Laljhadi Sub Division Forest Office, said that support will be given in the paper process to provide the compensation amount. On the night of Ashoj 12, Rana was attacked by a wild elephant while he was sitting in a sugarcane field.
