Gorkha, 6 January: Gorkha Municipality has made public various work schedules to make the ‘Gorkha Visit Year 2025’ a success. The municipality has made public a work schedule with 32 different plans to attract more tourists during the Gorkha Visit Year.
Under the work schedule, the ‘Jaun Hai Gorkha Program’ and even provincial-level sports competitions are being organized in all seven provinces across the country to promote tourism in Gorkha through historical, religious and sports areas, informed Mayor Krishna Bahadur Rana Magar. ”The municipality is going to launch new plans to develop tourism here by linking Gorkha with religious, historical and sports areas,” he said, ”Now we encourage tourists to visit Gorkha.”
Targeting tourists visiting Gorkha, the municipality has also prepared a ‘booklet’ by identifying 56 religious and tourist sites within the city, Mayor Rana Magar informed. The municipality has prepared to install a ‘street number’ with a QR code to inform tourists entering Gorkha via Aanbukhaireni about the route to the tourist spot.
”After scanning the QR, tourists can easily find out about the relevant tourist spot and its importance,” he said, ”The municipality has a work plan to complete this work within the coming Magh month.” Similarly, the municipality has planned to establish an information center in a multi-purpose building near the bus park at the district headquarters to provide information about the district’s tourist spots. The municipality has mentioned in its work schedule that it will hold a Bishwanath Yogi conference in Gorkha, a Khichadi Yatra from Gorakhnath to Gorakhpur, a Rot Festival and a Shanti Padyatra (trekking) program, and form a tourism network in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Lumbini, Bandipur, Sauraha and other places to attract religious tourists.Â
“Various tourism promotion training will be conducted to help facilitate tourists coming to Gorkha,” said Mayor Rana Magar. “In addition, a tourism-related competition has been planned to be held in the coming February to promote Gorkha’s tourist area through social media.” The municipality has already completed programs including a gathering of tourism entrepreneurs organized by the Hotel Entrepreneurs Association, a Gandaki Province-level judicial gathering 2081 in the municipality, and discussions related to tourism to make the Gorkha Visit Year a success.
