Solukhumbu, 21 October:After a week, with the weather clearing, the flight has begun to Lukla, 1155 tourists entered the Lukla airport in one day. Tourists who stopped at Manthali in Ramechhap and Kathmandu due to adverse weather arrived in Lukla on Monday after the air route opened.
According to the head of airport Umesh Panthi, there were 47 planes of 3 companies namely Tara, Summit and Sita Air flew from Manthali and Kathmandu on Monday, while helicopters of different companies brought tourists to Lukla through 130 flights. After a week, the weather cleared up in the morning, there were continuous flights until 2:30 in the afternoon, Airport Chief Panthi said. Now the airport has returned to regular schedule. District Police Chief DSP Dwarika Prasad Ghimire said that 575 foreign tourists entered by plane and 580 by helicopter. According to him, all the tourists stuck in Manthali have been rescued. Earlier, even though the Defense Minister and TAN said that Nepali Army planes and sometimes helicopters were used to rescue tourists, this time, no rescue flights were carried out by the army. Finally, private sector airlines that operate regular flights have rescued the tourists.
Tourists could not go to the Everest region due to unfavorable weather during the autumn tourist season. Nima Sherpa, director of Tip and Top Trekking, said that since today, with the improvement in the weather, more than 1100 tourists have entered Khumbu in a single day, and new enthusiasm has been added to the tourism industry.
