Curfew within Kathmandu’s ring road area

Kathmandu, 9 Sep: The District Administration Office, Kathmandu has imposed a curfew within the Ring Road area.

Kathmandu Chief District Officer Chhabi Lal Rijal informed that a curfew order has been issued within the Ring Road area, effective from 8:30 am this morning until further notice.

The curfew period imposed after the Gen z Youth protest yesterday ended at 5 am this morning. After that, a curfew has been imposed indefinitely from 8:30 am this morning.

According to Chief District Officer Rijal, a curfew has been imposed in the entire area within the ring road of Kathmandu Metropolitan City from Balkumari Bridge to Koteshwor Chowk, Sinamal, Gaushala, Chabahil, Narayan Gopal Chowk, Gongabu, Balaju, Swayambhu, Kalanki, Balkhu and Bagmati River Bridge.

During the curfew period, movement of people, gatherings, or any kind of demonstration, except for essential service vehicles, is prohibited.

19 people were killed in police firing yesterday as youth demonstrated in Kathmandu against social media bans and corruption.

Curfew extended in Lalitpur until midnight today

The District Administration Office, Lalitpur, has extended the curfew hours from 7 am to 12 midnight today. Chief District Officer Suman Ghimire informed that the curfew order has been issued by specifying four forts within Wards Nos. 2, 4, 9, 18 and 25 of Lalitpur Metropolitan City.

Wards 4, 18 and 25 fall under the Bhaisepati area. A curfew has been imposed on the road from Bhaisepati to Bungamati in the east, CG Housing and Chobhar Galchhi Road in the west, Bishnu Devi Temple below the Gayatri Petrol Pump in Ekantakuna in the north, and the downhill area leading to Itani in the south.

Similarly, a curfew has been imposed around Indrani Marg in Ward No. 2, Sanepa, prohibiting gatherings, processions, demonstrations, meetings, or sieges.

In the Sanepa area, a curfew has been imposed on the paved road from Sanepa Chowk to Indrani Temple, the Bagmati Corridor Road from Balkhu Bridge to Manmohan Park to the west, the service lane of the Ring Road (from Balkhu Bridge to Sanepa Chowk) to the north, and the paved road from Indrani Temple to the Bagmati Corridor to the south.

Chief District Officer Suman Ghimire informed that a curfew has been imposed in the Chyasal area of ​​Ward No. 9 of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, extending from the Manohara Khola Corridor suspension bridge in the east, Chyasal Stadium in the west, Manohara Khola in the north, and the road leading to Paschim Mal Pokhari in the south.
