Galeshwar (Magdi), October 19(Ashoj 3): The movement of domestic tourists has increased in the base camp area of Annapurna First Himal in Annapurna Rural Municipality-4 Narchang. Tej Bahadur Gurung, operator of the Maurice Harzog Trekking, informed that more than 800 domestic tourists had reached the area in the five days after Dashain Tika. Annapurna-3 Annapurna base camp can be reached after a two-day trek from Humkhola in Narchang.
Sushant Poudel, a domestic tourist who came back after reaching the base camp, said that the main base camp of Annapurna first mountain and the climbing route were crowded by domestic tourists who had gone on holiday. Until a few years ago, the base area was deserted. There is a lot of traffic here due to the construction of various tourist infrastructures for the footpath, the base camp and Panchkunda Lake along with the beautiful scenery of Futphute Lake, caves and waterfalls on the footpath.
It is said that the number of tourists visiting Annapurna base camp has increased by six times this year compared to last year. Local hoteliers are excited that the number of Indian, Chinese, Taiwanese and Italian tourists has also increased compared to last year. With the increase in the number of tourists, there has been an increase in garbage in the base camp, and the tourists have complained that other structures including toilets have not been paid attention to by the concerned authorities. After traveling 22 km from Pokhare bagar, the center of Annapurna rural municipality, to reach Homkhola, from there you can reach the base camp area by walking 21 km.
