Clash between MPs in Indian Parliament building premises: PM Modi updates on injured MP’s health condition

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs Pratap Chandra Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput were injured in a clash between the ruling party, the opposition and the coalition on the premises of the Indian Parliament building, the BJP has said. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called MPs Sarangi and Rajput and inquired about their health condition.

Indian National Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has accused BJP MPs of blocking and pushing him from entering Parliament. The Congress has said that its president Mallikarjun Kharge suffered an injury to his leg after being pushed by a ruling party MP.

Clashes broke out in the Parliament premises as a dispute erupted between the ruling party and opposition leaders over BJP leader and federal Home Minister Amit Shah’s derogatory remarks against Babasaheb Ambedkar. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sarangi has claimed that he was injured after being pushed by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Sarangi said that he was standing on the stairs when the opposition leaders pushed him and the MPs fell on him, causing him to suffer a head injury.

Singh told reporters, “Gandhi pushed an MP while entering Parliament and he fell on me, causing me to collapse.” After the incident, the BJP MP was taken in an ambulance for treatment. Both the MPs have been admitted to Delhi’s Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, said Ajay Shukla, the hospital’s medical superintendent. He said, “Their health is being examined.

“Symptomatic treatment has begun. Both have been admitted to the ICU due to head injuries.” He said, “When he was brought to the hospital, MP Sarangi was seriously injured and bleeding profusely. His treatment has now begun. Tests are also being conducted.” Shukla further said, “Rajput was brought in after fainting and is now conscious but looks worried.”

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi defended himself in the incident, saying, “I was trying to enter Parliament when BJP MPs pushed me, obstructed me, and threatened me.” Gandhi said, “They also pushed Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge. This could be on your camera.” He added, “We are not affected by the shock. This is the entrance and we have the right to enter.”

Congress MP KC Venugopal has accused Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs of preventing Congress leaders from entering Parliament. He said, “A shameful incident has taken place. BJP MPs pushed the Congress President and respected leader, while the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha was also prevented from entering the House and pushed. These BJP MPs were clearly responsible for spoiling the atmosphere and bringing down the dignity of Parliament.”

No amount of drama or deception can save BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah from accountability for his derogatory remarks against Babasaheb Ambedkar. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has said it will file a complaint against Gandhi and other MPs, alleging physical violence against BJP MPs.
