Business partnership between Pokhara and Chinese tourism entrepreneurs

Chengdu (China), 20 March: A business partnership (B to B) and ‘sales mission’ have been completed between tourism entrepreneurs from Pokhara and Chengdu city in Sichuan province of China.

The Nepal Tourism Board has organized a B to B and sales mission program between tourism entrepreneurs who reached Chengdu through the first commercial chartered flight from Pokhara International Airport and tourism entrepreneurs from Chengdu.

At a program organized in collaboration with the Pokhara Tourism Council and the Consulate General in Chengdu, tourism entrepreneurs from both countries emphasized that Sichuan Airlines flights should be regular and expressed their readiness for tourism partnership. Chengdu tourism entrepreneurs praised Pokhara’s natural beauty and urged for emphasis on infrastructure targeting Chinese tourists.

At the event, Pokhara Metropolitan City Mayor Dhanraj Acharya said that they were excited about the launch of the first commercial chartered flight from Pokhara, the tourist capital of Nepal, to Chengdu, a friendly country in China.

Stating that the friendly relations between Nepal and China are as high as the mountains, as deep as the ocean and as wide as the sky, he said that this relationship has expanded since the times of historical figures like Bhrikuti and Srongchang Gampo and Araniko. Expressing gratitude for the declaration of Visit Nepal Year 2025 as the 70th anniversary of the establishment of friendly relations between Nepal and China is being celebrated, Metropolitan Mayor Acharya said that this year has become even more special as the Pokhara Metropolitan City is celebrating the Pokhara Visit Year.

Stating that Sichuan Province has become a center of attraction among tourists from all over the world due to its world-famous tea, giant pandas and historical heritage of Buddha, he said that Nepali tourists are also eager to experience the rich culture and natural beauty of the place. He expressed his belief that the chartered flight will make it easier and more convenient for Nepali tourists to come to Sichuan and experience the attractions there. He said that with this, tourists from Chengdu will go directly to Pokhara and Nepali tourists will also come to experience the rich culture and natural beauty of Chengdu.

He said that special discount plans have been made public on various tourism packages on the occasion of Visit Pokhara Year in Pokhara, a destination for nature, culture and adventure tourism.

Liu Min, Deputy Director General of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Sichuan Province, expressed confidence that the commercial chartered flights launched by Sichuan Airlines will become regular. He expressed confidence that the continuation of the flights will be important for further deepening the historical relationship between the two countries in the coming days, as well as the partnership between tourism professionals from the two countries.

Pokhara Tourism Council Chairman Taranath Pahari said that the Pokhara-Chengdu flight will increase tourism cooperation between the two countries. Stating that they will continue to work on making this flight regular, he expressed confidence that the tourism entrepreneurs of Chengdu will also get positive support and cooperation in this. He said that the BTU and sales mission conducted in Chengdu has given confidence that the mutual friendship between the tourism entrepreneurs of the two countries will be further strengthened.

Maniraj Lamichhane, Chief of Nepal Tourism Board Gandaki Province, said that Pokhara is a destination for nature, culture and adventure tourism that is also preferred by Chinese tourists. He said that the continuation of Pokhara-Chandu flights is necessary to attract more Chinese tourists to Pokhara. He said that along with natural beauty, various adventure tourism activities can be found in Pokhara. Suresh Raut, Consul General of the Nepali Consulate General in Chengdu, said that Pokhara is the second largest city after Kathmandu and it is an important tourist destination in Nepal.

He said that they are ready to provide any assistance that the Consulate General can provide to make Pokhara-Chengdu flights regular. Pokhara Tourism Council General Secretary Jeevan Raj Sapkota said that the infrastructure targeting Chinese tourists in Pokhara is also expanding and expressed confidence that the arrival of Chinese tourists will increase in the coming days.
