Birat Expo starts today

Morang, 25 January: Birat Expo 2025, organized by the Industrial Organization Morang for the economic and industrial development of Koshi Province, is starting here today. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel is scheduled to inaugurate the expo at the empty grounds of the Degree Campus in Biratnagar this afternoon.

The expo, which will run until Magh 20, is believed to help promote industrial and agricultural production and tourism by establishing direct contact between consumers, producers and sellers in the province. Similarly, the organizers expect the expo to have a positive impact on the economic, social, cultural, educational, agricultural, industrial, banking and healthcare sectors of the region and to help make economic activities more dynamic.

According to Bholeswor Dulal, coordinator of the Expo Management Committee, the Virat Expo will feature 268 exhibition halls and daily necessities and materials produced from Nepal, India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

Rakesh Surana, Chairman of the Morang Industry Organization, said that useful and consumable goods and services and informational materials related to information technology, education, health, agriculture, tourism, food, industry and banking would be displayed at the exhibition. The industry organization, which organized its first expo in the name of ‘Koshi Festival’ in 2053 BS, has been organizing such expos every two years.

Nandakishore Rathi, Senior Vice President and Information Officer of the Industrial Organization Morang, informed that approximately Rs 30 million has been spent on the preparations for the expo and said that 250,000 visitors, both domestic and foreign, are expected to visit the Koshi Expo.

The organizers have stated that the nine-day expo, which aims to help prevent youth from emigrating abroad, has also arranged for skill-based training, including water pump maintenance and copy industry operation.
