Dharan, 28 June: A video showing a group of three individuals attacking a young man has gone viral on social media.
The footage, which surfaced on Friday, shows three youths arriving on a motorcycle and chasing down a man while wielding sharp weapons.
In the video, a young man is seen running away as a motorcycle with three riders follows closely behind. The pillion rider can be seen brandishing a sharp weapon in his hand.
Moments later, the fleeing man is seen returning along the same path.
As he comes back into view, red stains appear on the back of his white T-shirt, and blood can also be seen streaming from his mouth.
A passerby is seen attempting to shield the victim.
However, the attackers stop the motorcycle a short distance ahead, and one of them strikes the youth with a helmet. The victim tries to run again, with the attacker continuing the pursuit.
After going a short distance, the attacker turns back. His two companions, waiting with weapons near the motorcycle, are seen standing by. Once he returns, all three get on the motorcycle and flee the scene.
The viral video circulating on social media is indeed from Dharan.
We spoke with Sunsari police regarding the incident.
According to DSP Yogaraj Khatri, spokesperson for the Sunsari District Police Office, the location seen in the video is a road near the Ward Office of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City–10.
He stated that the incident occurred on the evening of Asar 12 (June 26, 2025).
As soon as the CCTV footage went viral on social media, the police launched an investigation into the incident.
DSP Khatri confirmed that the attackers are currently at large and a manhunt is underway.
Preliminary investigations suggest that both the attackers and the victim were acquaintances and are suspected to be drug users.
He also informed that the injured youth has already been discharged after receiving medical treatment.
“We are searching for those involved in the attack. The investigation is ongoing, and not everything has been revealed yet,” said DSP Khatri.
