Kathmandu, 1 Jan: The commission investigating the incidents of 23 and 24 Bhadau (September 8/9, 2025) is preparing to summon former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to record his statement.
After a discussion with Prime Minister Sushila Karki at Singh Durbar on Thursday, commission Chairperson Karki informed journalists that preparations are being made to call Oli, who is also the CPN-UML Chairman, to record his statement.
“We are in the process of calling Oli. If he does not come, that’s a matter for later. We are sending him a letter,” said Chairperson Karki.
Similarly, she informed that the statement of the then Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has been completed. Chairperson Karki stated that the commission’s term has been extended by one month and it will complete its work and submit its report to the government within that month.
The commission recorded Lekhak’s statement on Monday and Wednesday. Now, only the statement of the then Prime Minister Oli remains. There is a plan to summon Oli for his statement, giving him about a week’s time. The commission has informed that the questionnaire for him has also been prepared.
After collecting details, the commission formed on 5 Ashwin under the leadership of former Justice Gauri Bahadur Karki had begun recording statements from security personnel deployed in the field on 23 and 24 Bhadau (8/9 September 2025).
In this process, statements had been taken from the then Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal, the then Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadi, Chief of Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel, Nepal Police IGP Dan Bahadur Karki, the then IGP Chandrakuber Khapung, Armed Police Force IGP Raju Aryal, and the then chief of the National Investigation Department Hut Raj Thapa. After completing statements from heads of security and administrative bodies, the commission has now turned its attention to the political leadership.
Note: There is a plan to summon Oli for his statement, giving him a period of about one week. The commission has informed that the questionnaire for him has also been prepared.
