US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in a joint American-Israeli attack. In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump stated that Khamenei had been killed, describing him as “one of the most cruel people in history.” He further wrote, “This is justice not only for the people of Iran but also for the citizens of those countries around the world who were killed by Khamenei and his murderous gang.”
The United States and Israel launched an attack on Saturday in Tehran, the capital of Iran. The Israeli Air Force reported that its fighter jets carried out precise strikes targeting the Iranian military, resulting in the deaths of seven senior officials from Iran’s defense leadership. The Israeli military identified those killed as Ali Shamkhani, Mohammad Pakpour, Saleh Asadi, Mohammad Shirazi, Aziz Nasirzadeh, Hossein Jabal Amelian, and Reza Mozafari-Niya.
In the wake of Trump’s claim regarding Khamenei’s death, Reza Pahlavi, the exiled former crown prince of Iran, issued an appeal to the Iranian people on Saturday, urging them to unite. He called for support for a “stable transition to a free and happy future” and emphasized that any attempt by the government to appoint a successor should be thwarted.
Trump also stated that bombing would continue for a full week to establish peace in the Middle East and the world. However, Iran has denied the report of Khamenei’s death. The Iranian government maintains that Khamenei is still alive and continues to issue directives for the ongoing conflict. Despite this denial, international media outlets have prominently published the news of Khamenei’s alleged death, highlighting the significant implications such an event would have for regional stability and global geopolitics.
The situation remains highly volatile, with conflicting reports and escalating tensions. The international community is closely watching for further developments and official confirmations from reliable sources. The potential power vacuum and subsequent struggle for influence in Iran could have far-reaching consequences, affecting not only the Middle East but also global security dynamics. The coming days will be critical in determining the accuracy of Trump’s claim and the actual trajectory of events in the region.
