Kathmandu, 4 Oct: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Meteorological Forecasting Division, has urged the public to adopt high alertness, stating that monsoon winds will become more active on Saturday and Sunday, increasing the likelihood of heavy rainfall in some parts of the country.
In its weather bulletin issued this evening, the Division forecast that in the next 24 hours, heavy rainfall is likely at a few places in the hilly and Terai regions of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and at one or two places in the Terai region of Lumbini Province.
It further warned that very heavy rainfall is possible at one or two places in the hilly and Terai regions of Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
According to meteorologists, monsoon winds originating from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal will become more active starting Saturday morning.
Meteorologist Pratima Manandhar informed that light to moderate rainfall is currently occurring in some places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, and there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in some parts of the country on Saturday and Sunday. However, from Monday onward, weather conditions are expected to gradually improve.
“At present, the entire country is under the influence of moisture-laden winds (monsoon currents) coming from the Bay of Bengal,” she said.
