Kathmandu, 9 May: The formal production announcement of the film ‘Rajkumari’ has been made. With an estimated investment of around 50 million Nepalese rupees, the production team revealed the film’s title and stated that it will present a unique story of love, struggle, and courage to the Nepali audience.
Veteran director Rim Bishwakarma is writing and directing the film. He shared that he considers this project his “dream project.” He said, “Although I have made a few films before, this project feels like a debut directorial venture for me. There are specific reasons behind this, which I will reveal later.”
The film is being produced under the banner of Redlines Films Pvt. Ltd., with P.B. Thapa as the sole investor. Thapa stated that he was deeply moved by the story and the themes the film aims to explore, which led him to invest in the project. He remarked, “For the first time, Nepali audiences will experience a deep love story with a unique flavor. We’ll share more details during the formal launch ceremony.”
Casting for the lead role of ‘Rajkumari’ is currently underway. Although the production team is in talks with several well-known actresses, director Bishwakarma noted that a final decision on the lead actress has not yet been made.
However, the production team has stated that the selection of the remaining cast and technical crew is nearly finalized. Pre-production work is currently underway, with filming scheduled to begin within a few months. Director Bishwakarma mentioned that preparations are in progress to take the film to the floor by Bhadra (August–September). The release date, however, has not yet been finalized.
Based on the title, it can be assumed that the film may be closely related to a royal family. However, the production team has not fully revealed the storyline. They intend to keep the audience in suspense and gradually release all details in phases.
Director Bishwakarma’s film ‘Hello Kashiram’ is scheduled for nationwide release on Jestha 2 (May 15). He has been increasingly active in film direction in recent years and claims that ‘Rajkumari’ will firmly establish him as a full-fledged director.
At a time when the Nepali film industry is in search of fresh energy and original storytelling, ‘Rajkumari’ is expected to bring a new wave of creativity. Most of the film will be shot in Kathmandu, with some scenes planned for locations such as Mustang and Pokhara.
