150 foreign Nationals in Prison in Afghanistan

About 150 foreign nationals have been imprisoned in Afghanistan’s prisons, an official of the prison administration said on Sunday.

“Currently, about 150 foreign nationals are detained in Afghanistan’s prisons for various crimes including fraud and forgery. They are from different countries including neighbors,” said Maulabi Mohammad Yusuf Mustari, Acting Head of Administration, at present eight thousands to nine thousands Afghan citizens are imprisoned in foreign prisons. Most of them are in Iran.

According to that official, Afghan citizens are imprisoned in Iran, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and other countries.

About 11,000 civilians, including 1,000 women are currently incarcerated in Afghanistan’s prison.
