Kathmandu, 8 Oct: Nepal Rastra Bank has made public the foreign exchange rates set for today (Wednesday). According to the central bank, the US dollar and the European euro have decreased today, while some currencies such as the Swiss franc and the Swedish kronor have seen a slight increase.
Today, the buying rate of one US dollar is 141 rupees 74 paisa and the selling rate is 142 rupees 34 paisa. Yesterday, the buying rate was 141 rupees 76 paisa and the selling rate was 142 rupees 36 paisa. Therefore, the dollar has become two paisa cheaper today.
The European Euro has also become cheaper today. Today, the buying rate of one Euro has been fixed at 165 rupees 25 paisa and the selling rate at 165 rupees 95 paisa, while yesterday it was 166 rupees 49 paisa and 166 rupees 19 paisa respectively.
The value of the UK pound sterling has also declined. Today, the buying rate of one pound is 190 rupees and the selling rate is 190 rupees. 81 paisa, which is about 30 paisa cheaper than yesterday.
The Swiss franc has become a bit more expensive. Today, the buying rate of one Swiss franc has been set at 177 rupees 55 paisa and the selling rate at 178 rupees 30 paisa. This is an increase of five paisa compared to yesterday.
The Australian and Canadian dollars are almost stable. The Australian dollar is buying at 93 rupees 38 paisa and selling at 93 rupees 77 paisa, while the Canadian dollar is trading at 101 rupees 56 paisa and 101 rupees 99 paisa, the same as yesterday.
The value of the Japanese yen and the Chinese yuan have also declined. Today, the buying rate of 10 Japanese yen is 9 rupees 39 paisa and the selling rate is 9 rupees 43 paisa, while yesterday it was 9 rupees 43 paisa and 9 rupees 47 paisa respectively. The buying rate of one Chinese yuan has been fixed at 19 rupees 91 paisa and the selling rate is 19 rupees 99 paisa.
The exchange rates of the Gulf countries remain stable. The buying rate of one Saudi riyal is 37 rupees 79 paisa and the selling rate is 37 rupees 95 paisa, while the Qatari riyal remains at 38 rupees 89 paisa and 39 rupees 5 paisa.
The Kuwaiti dinar remains the most expensive foreign currency. Today, its buying rate is set at 462 rupees 70 paisa and the selling rate is set at 464 rupees 65 paisa. Similarly, the Bahraini dinar is expected to trade at 375 rupees 99 paisa and the Omani rial at 368 rupees 14 paisa.
The Indian rupee, the currency closest to Nepal, remains stable as always – the buying rate of 100 Indian rupees is 160 rupees and the selling rate is 160 rupees and 15 paisa, respectively.

Nepal Rastra Bank has stated that this exchange rate can be revised throughout the day if necessary. It has been stated that there may be minor differences in the rates used by commercial banks and that the updated rates will be available on the bank’s website.
