Kathmandu, 12 January: Singer Prakash Saput is well-known as a musician, lyricist, actor and director. Singer Saput, who continues to express his story through songs and audio-visuals, has produced films. He can be found in the above-mentioned roles in films as well.
Isn’t it difficult for one person to play so many roles? To this question, singer Saput responded that he will focus on only one genre in the coming days. At a press conference organized at a film house on Durbar Marg on Saturday evening to release the lyrics and audio of the first song ‘Saanjh Paryo Jhamakkai’ included in his first film ‘Basant’, singer Saput said that even though he was successful this time because of his group, he would not take responsibility for anything other than one genre in the coming days.
He said, “It is always difficult to do everything by myself. Especially when I am directing and acting at the same time, I feel that the energy is shared between both. Therefore, if I am the director in the next film, I will keep my scenes very short, otherwise I will give the responsibility of directing to Sunil BK and I will focus only on acting. Because I will try not to make it weaker than my previous work.”
Singer Saput said that he had discussed this issue with Nischal Basnet, Arpan Thapa, and others, who are also acting and directing. He said that while he was busy with singing, he wanted to take the story to a larger audience.
“I was expressing my stories, including experiences and appearances, through songs. I thought I could complete those stories in songs. That is why I gave shape to the plan to make a film. This is the story of many middle-class youth like me,” he said. Singer Saput clarified that although the story of this film includes his childhood and experiences, it is not his own biography.
Actress Swastima Khadka said that singer Saput worked as a mature filmmaker. She said, “I have never seen singer Saput as new. There was maturity in his work, which the audience will soon feel on screen. I consider myself lucky to be associated with this film and play the character named Shanti. This will be a character that I will remember for years to come.”
The song ‘Saanjh Paryo Jhamakkai’, which has been released, has lyrics, music and vocals by Saput, while Shantishree Pariyar has supported the singing. The film features actors including Prabhat Pal Thakuri, Anup Baral, Kamal Mani Nepal, Prakash Ghimire.
The film is based on the dream and struggle of a son from the economically disadvantaged Bishwakarma community to become a writer, the production team has said. The film is set to hit the screens on Chaitra 22.
