Announcing the Tri-Partite Memorandum of Understanding between
the following Partners
Buffer Zone Management Committee – BZMC SNNP
Kakani Centre for Development of Community – KCDC
Water Environment and Risk Education – WEaRE

It is with great excitement and commitment that the BZMC, KCDC and WEaRE (Garry de la Pomerai; Program Director) can announce a signing of an MOU to ignite a collaboration to generate and build resilience within the Shivapuri Nagarjun National Parks and its buffer zones within the Kathmandu Valley, Nuwakot, Dhading and Sindhupalchowk district amongst the 14,000 homes and 70,000 population, embracing 90 schools, health centers, hospital, including 200 wardens, one Army Battalion and Security forces, integrating with the multiple existing contributory GO/ngo/npo agencies and Community and Municipality leads. Primarily addressing DRHS ‘Disaster Reduction Health & Safety’, with Fire Preparedness Training, generating an integrated collaborative approach, with a coordinated and enhanced response ‘system’, ensuring safety of responders, schools, and communities, including the wildlife and the fragile environment, whilst managing any discord between humans, wildlife and the environment. This tri-partite collaboration will encourage sets of sustainable integrated strategy development, pilot initiatives, pioneering model programs, budget procurements, donor collaborations, with safety and response equipment provision, ensuring throughout the National Parks embracing Buffer Zone Communities, guardians and visitors, promotion of necessary awareness, preparedness, mitigation and implementation of a response strategies, encouraging a cohesive, safer and compatible ecosystem, including resilience to climate change and anthropogenic activities.
