Kathmandu, 7 January: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has presented awards to the players, coaches and managers of those sports who won medals in SAFF Women’s Football, Asian Karate and Kawa Beach Volleyball.
The awards were presented to them in a program organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports at the Prime Minister’s residence today, in accordance with the government’s decision on December 13. After the formation of the government led by Prime Minister Oli, the system of tax deductions on awards given to players and coaches has been abolished.
The Prime Minister presented awards to Amrita Jaisi, head coach Rajendra Tamang and manager Brinda Dewan, who won medals at the SAFF Women’s Championship held in Kathmandu from October 17 to 30, and Erika Gurung, head coach Kushal Shrestha, who won medals at the 20th Asian Karate Championship held in Haizhou, China from September 17 to 23.
Similarly, he also presented awards to Kamala Pun, Manish Kumari Chaudhary, and coach Rupesh Kumar Bista, who won the women’s and men’s volleyball titles at the Kawa Beach tournament held in Thimphu, Bhutan from August 1 to 4.
Praising the players for enhancing the country’s prestige in the international arena through sports, Prime Minister Oli advised them to compete with high morale and determination that they can win the game. He emphasized the need to enter the field with a collective spirit.
