The former chairman of the rural municipality, Mahendra Prasad Yadav, expressed that both players and spectators enjoyed the wrestling, which is deeply connected to the fundamental identity and culture of the Madesh region. He was pleased that this annual event in Narasingha is helping preserve the wrestling sport, which is on the verge of decline in the Terai Madesh.
The event was attended by local officials and representatives, including the current Chairman of the rural municipality, Ajmal Akhkar Azad, and several ward chairpersons.
Every year, various wrestling competitions are held in India and Nepal. In these events, Indian and Nepali players participate and showcase their skills. Wrestling is very popular in Nepal’s Terai region and in India. Wrestling competitions are not held in modern halls but on dusty, earthen grounds.
The organizing committee’s chairman, Sachindra Yadav, informed that renowned wrestlers from Nepal and India will be awarded cash prizes at a rate of NPR 5,000 per person. He also reported that the mela has attracted over 60,000 spectators by its second day.
