U.S. President Donald Trump has said that India and Pakistan, which have become increasingly aggressive toward each other in recent days, are now ready for a ceasefire. In a post on the social media platform ‘Truth Social’ on Saturday afternoon, Trump credited U.S. mediation for making this possible and congratulated both countries.
He wrote, “I am pleased to announce that, following continuous overnight discussions and U.S. mediation, India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire. I want to congratulate and thank both countries for this step taken with wisdom and sound judgment.”
Similarly, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also shared a message on X that appeared to confirm the intent of Trump’s post. He stated that over the past two days, he had been in continuous communication with Vice President J.D. Vance, senior Indian and Pakistani officials, as well as Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Shehbaz Sharif, and confirmed that both governments had agreed to a ceasefire.
