Honorable Uparathi Gurung’s ‘Amboi Ni’ released

Kathmandu, Ashoj 7 (Sep 23): The song ‘Amboi ni’ by Tamang cello in the voice of Bharat Chandra Gurung, a retired honorary officer of the Nepalese army, has been released on YouTube on Sunday.

Singer Gurung’s 96-year-old father, retired Captain Indrajit Gurung, made the song public during a ceremony. The song has lyrics by Dr. Ash Bahadur Tamang and music composition by Badri Sharma. Senior singer Indira Gole has provided vocal support.

The lyrics of the song, released with the aim of giving gifts to the listeners and viewers for the upcoming Bada dashain and Tihar, have a combination of humor and fun of Tamang Cello. While maintaining the originality of the Tamang caste and community, it has been tried to give novelty even in the composition of the song. This is singer Gurung’s first official recorded song.

Manartha Uparathi Gurung, who has been interested in song music since childhood, had been singing songs informally during his military life. This song, which is connected with the history and tradition of the Tamang community, reflects the lifestyle, feelings and experiences of the community. Tamang Selo Bhaka is known as a symbol of happiness and celebration in Nepali society.
