Kathmandu, Sept 10: Nepal’s first people elected Prime Minister BP Koirala was remembered and his contribution to democracy and parliamentary system discussed in a programme on Monday. The programme organized on the occasion of the 111th birth anniversary of BP Koirala witnessed speakers from various fields. They shed light on BP’s ideology and adherence to democracy. The programme was organized by the BP Congress central committee in the federal capital, Kathmandu. Party Chairman Sushil Man Sherchan, former minister Keshar Bahadur Bista, Prof Dr Surendra KC, former ambassador Hiranya Lal Shrestha and former lawmaker Arjun Baral viewed nationality and people’s concern could be addressed at present through the amendment of constitution. They reminded that BP’s vision of nationality, democracy and socialism was foundation of Nepal’s progress and prosperity. It is always relevant. The speakers further underlined need for national production, modernization of agriculture and employment generation within country. —
