An additional three-day extension has been granted to investigate Gunjan Rai for making indecent comments against singer Elina.

Gunjan Rai, who was arrested on charges of making indecent comments about singer Elina Chauhan on social media, has had his custody extended.

On Thursday, the Kathmandu District Court granted an additional three days for investigation. Rai, a 33-year-old originally from Chitwan and currently residing in Badegau, Lalitpur, was arrested by police the same day.

The police have initiated an investigation against him under the Electronic Transactions Act. He is accused of making indecent remarks about singer Chauhan on social media.

The police have recovered a mobile phone from him. He is also known to write poetry and, according to the police, works at an art institution. Last Monday, singer Elina Chauhan filed a complaint with the Cyber Bureau against him and three others.

Mobile phone of the person who made the comment recovered; several fake IDs found

Gunjan Rai, who was arrested on charges of making indecent comments about singer Elina Chauhan on social media, has had his mobile phone recovered by the police.

According to DIG Navindra Aryal, the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police arrested the 33-year-old from Badegaun, Lalitpur.

He is accused of posting indecent remarks about singer Chauhan on social media.

The police have currently seized one mobile phone from him.

“One mobile phone has been recovered so far. It appears that he created multiple fake IDs,” said DIG Aryal. “Reports suggest there are around 10 to 12 IDs. The investigation is still ongoing.”

He is also known to write poetry and, according to the police, works at an art institution.

Originally from Chitwan, he was arrested by police from Lalitpur on Thursday. The investigation against him is being carried out under the Electronic Transactions Act.

The police are preparing to seek an extension of his custody on the same day. Last Monday, singer Elina Chauhan filed a complaint with the Cyber Bureau against him and three others.
