Amid Pollution and Unhealthy Lifestyles, Importance of Cycling Has Increased – Minister Yadav

Kathmandu, 7 Jun: Minister for Drinking Water, Pradeep Yadav, stated that amid growing problems of traffic congestion, pollution, and unhealthy lifestyles, the importance of cycling has significantly increased.

Speaking at a cycling event organized on Saturday in Kathmandu by the Marwadi Yuva Manch under the Marwadi Committee Nepal, on the occasion of World Bicycle Day and World Environment Day with the slogan “Protecting the Environment: Our Duty, Our Commitment”, Minister Yadav emphasized that cycling promotes both health and cleanliness.

He said, “Cycling not only takes us to our destination, but also spreads the message of a healthy body and a clean city. All of us should envision a green future at both personal and collective levels.”

Minister Yadav shared that the government is committed to investing in policies and infrastructure to promote eco-friendly transportation. He also urged schools, offices, and local bodies to encourage the use of bicycles. “Such inspirational programs that promote healthy living, a green environment, and a positive mindset should be conducted everywhere. We must all work together to encourage bicycle use,” he added.

He acknowledged the significant role played by the Marwadi Sewa Samaj in environmental protection and leading efforts to create a pollution-free society. He emphasized the need to focus on keeping our environment clean and healthy.

Highlighting that cycling fosters both physical fitness and environmental awareness, Minister Yadav said cycling is extremely relevant in today’s era.

The event’s special guest, Pramod Kumar Chaudhary, President of the Marwadi Sewa Samiti, said that using bicycles not only improves individual fitness but also helps reduce noise and air pollution in cities.

Other participants in the event included Ramesh Tapadiya, President of the Pashupati Gaushala Dharmashala; Mrs. Rekha Khetan, President of the Marwadi Mahila Manch; event coordinator Arun Goyal; officials from the Marwadi Sewa Samiti; office bearers and committee members of the Marwadi Yuva Manch.
