Adanchuli, (Humla) 10 Falgun: The citizens of Adanchuli Rural Municipality of Humla and Soru Rural Municipality of Mugu, which have been facing telephone and internet problems for years, are happy after the fourth generation mobile data service ‘4G’ came into operation. It is reported that Nepal Telecom has started 4G from Kathmandu and Pokhara from 17 Poush 2073 BS.
Singh Bohara of Ward No. 5, Adanchuli Rural Municipality, Humla, said that the citizens, who had previously had to go to each ward office and rural municipality office to do video calls and other internet-related work, are now overjoyed to be able to make video calls from anywhere in their homes.
Nepal Telecom has stated that 4G services have been operational in all villages around Bajura and Mugu, including Tanjakot, Adanchuli and Sarkegad rural municipalities in the southern region of Humla and Soru rural municipality in Mugu, after 4G came into operation in remote villages. Mohan Bikram Singh, Chairman of Adanchuli Rural Municipality, said that the locals felt relieved after the 4G internet and telephone services came into operation in the village and it has also become easier to carry out daily work at the local level.
The vice-chairman of the rural municipality, Keshar Bahadur Shahi, has requested everyone to inform him that the ‘4G’ tower installed in Lamakandh, near the center of his rural municipality, has come into operation from today and in which settlements within the rural municipality it has worked. According to him, the expansion of 4G services will facilitate the work of education, health, social services, entertainment and information exchange through electronic means in the village.
The tower installed in Lamakandh of Soru Rural Municipality Ward No. 3 has started operating in some settlements of Soru Rural Municipality and most of the settlements of Tanjakot, Sarkegad, and Addanchuli Rural Municipality of Haramla from this afternoon, while the tower installed in Adanchuli Chyam will be operational from 1 pm tomorrow (Saturday), informed Drigh Singh of Adanchuli Rural Municipality Ward No. 5, who was responsible for the construction of the tower.
Nepal Telecom Humla Rinjin Lama said that after the tower placed in Chyam comes into operation on Saturday, ‘4G’ service will be operational in most of the settlements in the lower areas of the district. After the tower under construction in Mahatara Chaur, between Adanchuli and Sarkegad rural municipalities, comes into operation, internet service will be available in all the settlements in the lower areas.
The locals are very happy now that 4G has started operating in villages far from the district headquarters. With the completion of the tower construction from today, 4G has started operating in every house in this area, said Hans Mahatara, the outgoing Chief Administrative Officer of Adanchuli Rural Municipality. He said, “Despite continuous efforts for two years, we are very happy that we have succeeded in bringing it into operation from today. Now, even if the towers of Kadamdachit Ordlink and Everest are down, our work will not be disrupted.” Ammar Rawal of Kalkhe, Ward No. 1, Adanchuli Rural Municipality, says, “Earlier, the residents of this place used to wander around looking for a high mountain to talk on their mobile phones. Now, we can talk comfortably from home. This is a great convenience. Now, we are able to make video calls with our relatives in the country and abroad. I am very happy.” The rural municipality had been trying for a long time to provide 4G services in the village. Rawal also said that now that 4G has started operating in the village, the locals here feel that the local government has reached their homes.
Singh, the chairman of Humla Adanchuli Rural Municipality, said that the construction of the tower in this area began last year after the municipality had been in constant correspondence, direct meetings, requests and coordination with the central office of the telecom in Kathmandu for the past two years. He said, “It was because of my continuous pressure that it got out quickly and came into operation.”
Similarly, since the tower placed in Lamakandh of Soru Rural Municipality was not operational, it would not be operational in Humla, Soru Rural Municipality Chairman Dharma Bahadur Shahi was compelled to bring it into operation very quickly, and accordingly, he said that it took two years to bring the contractors who had fled and get the work started quickly. He said, “Now that telephone service with 4G has been operational in every village, government and non-government offices, health and education sectors have also become very convenient. From now on, online services can be started in schools here, digital education, online education and health.”
