Voting concluded peacefully

Kathmandu, 5 March: According to the Election Commission, an estimated 60 percent voter turnout was recorded in the House of Representatives member election held on Thursday.

Speaking at a press conference organized by the Commission on Thursday evening after the voting concluded, Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari informed that the preliminary estimate shows around 60 percent of votes were cast across the country.

He stated that the voting was conducted peacefully nationwide.

He said, “The preliminary estimate shows that around 60 percent of votes have been cast. The process of collecting detailed data is still ongoing.”

He also expressed gratitude to the Government of Nepal, provincial governments, chief returning officers, returning officers, security agencies, political parties, and observers for their cooperation and coordination in successfully conducting the election.

President expresses satisfaction over the peaceful completion of the election

Ram Chandra Paudel has expressed satisfaction that the election of members of the House of Representatives was conducted peacefully and that the complex situation facing the country has found a way forward.

President Paudel also expressed his gratitude to the Government of Nepal, the Election Commission Nepal, security personnel, political parties, voters, civil servants, and all concerned stakeholders, as well as all Nepali brothers and sisters, for their roles in making the election successful.

Home Minister expresses gratitude for the successful completion of the voting process

Om Prakash Aryal, the Home Minister, has expressed his gratitude to everyone for the peaceful and enthusiastic completion of the voting process in the House of Representatives member election.

Minister Aryal stated that, under the direction of the Ram Chandra Paudel and the leadership of the Prime Minister, the voting process was successfully conducted in a single phase across the country with the cooperation of all concerned parties. He noted that the election was conducted in line with the Prime Minister’s aspiration of holding an election “without a single drop of blood being shed.”

He said that obtaining a public mandate through elections, which is an important practice of the democratic process, is the best option from both constitutional and legal perspectives. Minister Aryal added that through this election, significant achievements have been made in implementing the Constitution and institutionalizing the rights gained by the Nepali people.

Minister Aryal also expressed sincere appreciation to all Nepali citizens involved in the election process, including voters, candidates, leaders and activists of political parties, civil servants deployed for the election, security personnel, journalists, national and international observers, and everyone who contributed directly or indirectly to the successful conduct of the election.

He further requested all concerned to continue playing a positive and supportive role during the vote-counting process following the completion of voting.

Minister Aryal also stated that the enthusiasm and active participation shown by voters nationwide in conducting the election in a free, fair, fearless, and dignified environment reflects the people’s strong commitment and dedication to democracy. He expressed deep respect and gratitude to all citizens—parents, sisters, brothers, and elders—who participated in the voting and exercised their invaluable right to vote.
