Kathmandu, 9 February: Nepali kickboxer Abiral Ghimire, known as the ‘Snow Leopard’, has succeeded in setting one record after another in the field of kickboxing. He defeated Japanese boxer Yasuhito Shirasu in the ‘K-1 World Max 2025’ competition organized by ‘K-1 Professional Kickboxing’ at the National Yoyogi Stadium in Tokyo, Japan, today.
Boxer Ghimire defeated his opponent, Antonin Marconi of France, to become the ‘World Champion’ in the ‘International Kickboxing’ (ISKCA) competition organized by the International Sports Kickboxing Association at the Nagoya Congress Center in Nagoya, Japan, on November 21.
With this success, boxer Ghimire has won three matches in K-1 kickboxing and has become the world champion in ISCA and HIT kickboxing competitions. After winning the Max title, boxer Ghimire thanked his father and head coach Dev Ghimire, the Shimura Dojo where he is training, and the Nepali, Korean, and Japanese sports fans who came to the hall to cheer him on.
Boxer Ghimire defeated rival Sirasu in the third round to win the ‘K One World Max 2025’ competition. Ghimire, a famous athlete who has so far defeated boxers from France, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, Bolivia, the Netherlands, Thailand and other countries, has succeeded in raising the Nepali flag in another international competition and making Nepal’s identity known in the world.
He has been undergoing special training under his father Dev Ghimire in Nagoya, Japan. His father Dev is a former international kickboxer and full contact karate player. He had undergone special training at the Tiger Muay Thai Club in Thailand for a month before participating in the competition.
Boxer Ghimire’s father, Dev, is the first South Asian athlete to participate in the ‘K One Professional Kickboxing Competition’ held in Seoul, Korea in 2004. His family, a resident of Gurjudhara Balambu, Chandragiri Municipality-12, is currently residing in Nagoya, Japan.
