A “Community Court Program” was completed in Bethanchok Rural Municipality, organized by the Kavreplanchok District Court.
Addressing the program, Judge Rajendra Nepal of the Kavre District Court expressed gratitude for Bethanchok Rural Municipality’s leading position in judicial proceedings within the district and suggested that other municipalities should follow Bethanchok’s example. He presented legal measures for resolving participants’ legal issues and praised the adherence to legal norms and procedures observed during the monitoring and inspection of the judicial committee by the court.
During the program, Karn Bahadur Rai, an official from the Kavre District Court, provided training on community courts. The session was attended by executive members, mediators, and other stakeholders. Other staff members from the Kavre District Court also facilitated the program.
Judge Nepal, who led the monitoring and inspection of the judicial committee from the district court, was welcomed by Bhagwan Adhikari, Chairperson of the Rural Municipality; Tara Rana Timilsina, Vice-Chairperson; and Rajendra Bhandari, Chief Administrative Officer.
In her closing remarks, Tara Rana Timilsina, Vice-Chairperson and Coordinator of the Judicial Committee, praised the Kavreplanchok District Court for its efforts to bring judicial work and processes directly to the local level. She noted that such programs are beneficial as they help individuals who are not well-versed in legal matters gain access to justice. She expressed satisfaction with the good work and practices of the municipal judicial committee and highlighted that all wards of the municipality have received efficient services from the committee.
Shreekrishna Timilsina, Chief of the Judicial Branch of the Rural Municipality, informed that, in the current year, a total of 26 cases have been registered with the judicial committee, of which 22 have been resolved and 4 are still ongoing.
