Indiscriminate excavation of rural roads is suspected to have caused a landslide in Simaltal.

28 Asad, Kathmandu. Before the onset of the ongoing monsoon season, the Bharatpur Division Road Office had reported landslide risks at 25 locations along the Narayanghat-Mugling road section. The office had identified four high-risk and seven low-risk areas.

The high-risk areas included Mauri Bridge, Namsi Bridge, Kalikhola, and the Tuin Bridge area. On Friday morning, a landslide with debris occurred in Simaltal, Ward 29 of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Chitwan. The landslide swept away two passenger buses into the Trishuli River. Search operations for the buses are ongoing. At least five dozen passengers, including drivers, were aboard the two buses.
